Finished Project – Galapagos Marine Reserve

Recently Kellar Maritime Systems (KMS) successfully completed the project "Supply and Installation of an AIS for the Galapagos Islands" in the Galapagos Marine Reserve, Ecuador. The main objective of the project was the installation of an AIS system to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of current maritime surveillance system.

 

KMS supplied and installed an AIS system on seven islands and two ports and installed the necessary equipment for monitoring and control of maritime traffic in both the offices of the Galapagos National Park and in the naval base at Puerto Baquerizo.

 

Importantly, the particular geography of the Galapagos Islands, the installation required to use helicopters to access remote areas. Also, solar panels were used to power the equipment easier and efficiently.
